House System

MISSION

Founders Classical Academy of Corinth seeks to provide an excellent and distinctive classical education that pursues knowledge, promotes virtue, and prepares students for prosperous lives in a free society.

HOUSE SYSTEM PURPOSE

Our house system at Founders Classical Academy of Corinth, rooted in the traditions of historic English boarding schools, is not just a structure, but a community. It is a place where every student is valued, included, and feels a sense of belonging, regardless of their background or abilities.

Our four houses, named after the Cardinal Virtues, are not just about competition, but about empowerment. Each student is sorted into a house that not only encourages friendship and healthy competition but also provides numerous leadership opportunities. This system is designed to inspire every student to take on responsibilities, respect others, and take pride in their achievements.

HOUSE POINT SYSTEM

At Founders Classical Academy of Corinth, our house system inspires students through friendly competition. Students can earn points for their house in three main areas:

Attendance: Arriving on time every day is vital for academic success. Students earn points for punctuality, perfect attendance, and participation in Attendance House Challenges.

Behavior: We uphold high standards. Students may earn points by demonstrating virtues of courage, self-governance, civility, service, perseverance, honesty, and gratitude.

Academics: Our house system is a key part of our mission to promote a culture of achievement. We reward academic efforts and results, and through our Academic House Challenges and quarter grades, we motivate students to strive for excellence in their studies.

Our house system turns learning into a collaborative journey, where students uplift each other while embodying our foundational virtues for personal and academic growth. Together, we create a culture where seeking excellence is the expectation.

COMPETITION

At Founders Classical Academy of Corinth, we believe that competition, when approached with the right mindset, can foster character and drive excellence. Our house system promotes friendly rivalry that unites students across grades and abilities. Here, students learn the value of teamwork and discover that everyone's unique skills and talents matter.

Competing with integrity and celebrating both individual and collective achievements helps students build resilience, humility, and compassion. Any defeat is viewed as a chance to learn and grow. True victory comes when students learn good sportsmanship and grow in character.

Amidst the competition, camaraderie and joy thrive. Laughter and cheers resonate alongside displays of house pride. Our students create lasting memories while learning essential lessons in sportsmanship that they will carry throughout their lives. By nurturing healthy competition, we foster a supportive community where students strive for greatness and deepen their understanding.

FOUNDERS, NOT HOGWARTS

While Harry Potter films created a magical world within house systems, we focus on real-world virtues and community here at Founders Classical Academy of Corinth. You won't find wizards or quidditch; instead, you'll discover students from diverse backgrounds coming together.

Mutual respect and friendship drive our competition, not rivalry. Every house is equally vital, and every student plays a meaningful role in embodying our school's values. Regardless of the outcome, we compete with integrity and celebrate each other's efforts. Though houses may compete against each other during contests, we ultimately stand as one united school.

The true magic of our house system comes from the students themselves. Their enthusiasm, talents, and school spirit breathe life into our virtues. We're not here to replicate fiction but to write our unforgettable story.

HOUSE SORTING

Grammar: Students on the Grammar Campus follow the house of their teacher. Following the homeroom teacher's house helps students to experience the friendly competition and build a sense of community. Students may be in a different house each year.

Upper: Students in sixth grade (or new students in older grades) are sorted into permanent houses. We have a yearly sorting ceremony to help our new sixth graders feel welcomed to the upper campus. Students on the Upper Campus have an advisory period where they can interact with other grade levels. Middle school advisory consists of students in grades six through eight, and high school advisory consists of students in grades nine through twelve. The advisory period is an opportunity for fellowship and fun. Teachers mentor our students as they help them with house challenges and activities.
